Well that would be amazing if it were true! I’ve seen it being thrown around by quite a few people on Twitter lately (myself included - but I was just wishing something would happen), but most of it - as far as I can tell - is just fans wishing that some network would pick it up.
I truthfully can’t understand why the CW canceled the show. I know the ratings dropped off after the first few months, but it had loyal fans who weren’t even worried about it towards renewal time because they thought it was a lock. I think the best thing about it was also its downfall. It paired well with The Vampire Diaries - seeing as they were kin - but the problem was the fact that they put it on after TVD. Most of TVD’s audience was too busy fangirling or flipping out at the latest development to pay attention to what was happening on The Secret Circle. I myself am guilty of not watching TSC as it aired. I usually caught up on Friday or Saturday. And that probably didn’t help matters.
I personally think that if ABC Family were to pick it up, it would be a great thing for the show and for the network. The network has the 18-49 demo that the show wants and has, and I think it has the right audience sect too. It would fit in really well with their programming - especially since the network doesn’t have a paranormal show yet. And let’s face it, we all know that is the Cool Thing to Have right now. And the show would come with a built-in audience, which can only be seen as a positive thing.
I desperately hope the show is picked up by another network - whether it’s ABC Family or not - because I love the show and the characters. And because Phoebe Tonkin is a great talent. If it ends up not moving networks, I’d hope to God Julie Plec would find a way to pull her in to TVD.
All this focus on Matt Davis’ red pants is getting a little distracting.
I’ve been doing some thinking. Maybe I overreacted to Alaric’s death.
But then again. Probably not.
I’m not sure how I feel about it either. I personally just don’t know if Michael Trevino has what it takes to BE Klaus. Like you said, Matt did a great job as Klaus (seriously, those episodes remain some of my all time favorite), but we hadn’t seen Joseph Morgan in the role at that time. Now that we know him and know how great he is it will be hard to match or excel that performance.
Klaus has such a personality and it will be strange to see Michael Trevino try to do the same things that Joseph Morgan can do. And don’t get me wrong, I love Michael and think he is awesome as Tyler, but I’m just not sure how to deal with him being Klaus.
And it will be TOTALLY weird since Klaus fancies Caroline. I fully expect him to pretend to be Tyler (which will be funny to see Trevino playing Klaus playing Tyler) just to sneak in some moments with Caroline. I just wonder how long it will last.
I feel the same. Super excited about the Cult (I’ve heard great things), but I’m also sad about losing Alaric. He’s been my favorite for three years and it’s hard to let him go. I literally have never lost a favorite character on a returning show.
But I’m fairly certain that we haven’t seen the last of him. It will probably be as a ghost, but I’m kind of willing to take what we can get at this point. I hope it’s not just a single episode during November sweeps though. Since the show is on the CW I know it will be easier contract wise for him to make appearances, and I kind of remember Cult only being, like, 13 episodes. So that means he would have time, theoretically of course, to show up.
And you know, an epic Klaus/Alaric showdown would have been amazing. (For the record: I’m really hoping Joseph Morgan will be back as Klaus - I can’t fathom that his body actually is gone. He’s too good.)
