Oh, right! I’m not sure if Lily and Marshall had more than one child or not though. I’ll have to do a massive rewatch to figure that one out.
And from that interview I read it seems there is going to be a lot of Robin and Barney stuff in season 7, especially during November sweeps. So I’m sure there is going to be a lot of pining on Robin’s part, much like the pining Barney did during season 4. I really hope that’s what happens. I’ve shipped those two since the first time she suited up and smoked cigars and played laser tag with Barney.
And don’t feel shy! I will talk at length about HIMYM (and about 700 other topics) so never feel shy!
Don’t apologize! I’m not over it yet either. I loved it. In fact, I’m thinking about re-watching it tonight. I loved seeing Robin realize she might not be over Barney yet (because I’ve been waiting for her to see that forever). And I love the idea that Barney, the biggest man whore and commitment-phobe in the universe, will one day get married. And he seems nervous about it! Our little manboy is growing up!
And I still think it’s Robin that he marries. Craig Thomas blatantly ships Robin/Barney and they really are a great pair. I don’t think it’s Nora. I read an interview with Craig yesterday where he said there will actually be some other women in Barney’s life next season, so I’m really betting it is not Nora.
Oh, and I guess Lily finally getting pregnant was a happy moment, too. But I kind of saw that one coming. I hope it’s a little Marshall though, not a Lily.

TVLINE | Given some of his issues, Barney getting married suggests quite a change for the character. Will we see a very different Barney next season?
Craig Thomas: We don’t know when this wedding is taking place. … We’re threading the needle on that [in Season 7]. How does Barney get to that place? What changes him? What makes him want to do this? Who’s he marrying? How did they get there? What’s going on on that wedding day? Is he happy? Is he nervous? Is this going to go forward? Is it going to be a disaster? … I will tease that in November sweeps of Season 7, where there will be four huge episodes for Barney. It will involve Robin, and there will be some very explosive relationship stuff happening.
TVLINE | There were a lot of hints in the finale that maybe Robin isn’t completely over Barney. What is her journey next season?
Thomas: For any fans who felt we shortchanged by the Barney and Robin story in Season 5, there’s some really juicy stuff coming up for the two of them in Season 7. Like I said, some pretty big stuff goes down in November sweeps. In Season 5, we had them date for, I think, eight episodes and break up, and that felt right at the time. These two characters didn’t feel anywhere near ready to commit to one another. It’s now a couple years later, Robin is seeing Barney grow up a little bit… It’s not gone unnoticed by Robin, who also did not have a serious love interest this past year. She’s definitely going to have to wrestle with that at the start of Season 7.

You guys, know what? I am willing to bet a floppity jillion dollars that it’s Robin that he marries. Think about it, Barney’s one rule of this episode was “New is always better,” and the writers love to prove Barney wrong. He accepted the Nora challenge, but in the end, Barney loves Robin, and the show is going to prove that new isn’t always better. Was it in Ted’s case? Yeah, but Barney loves his rules and he did say it was his oldest rule and therefore his best rule, and what better story would it be to knock him on his ass and prove that it isn’t always better? I think Barney might need to date Nora to really figure out that she isn’t the type of woman he wants, but I think in the end he’ll realize you can go back to the same girl if that girl is Robin freaking Scherbatsky. So I have faith in Craig Thomas and Carter Bays and the wedding will in fact be that of Barney and Robin.
This is why I love Barney. He never does things the easy way, always looking for the way to out-do what he’s done or what someone else has done. Bigger is always better for him (or maybe it is new is always better? haha) and he’s such a manchild that I can’t stop loving him.
