5 FAVORITE SCENES ★ HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX

“Get away from my Godson!

If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal and if they can’t stop you, you become something else entirely… a legend, Mister Wayne.

TOP 5 HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS: 02
Sirius Black
I’ve gone back and forth on where to put Sirius. I’ve been known to claim he’s my favorite Harry Potter character, weeping when he died at the end of Order of the Phoenix (my favorite book - tied with Prisoner of Azkaban), but at the same time, it’s hard for me to ignore the person I’ve placed at the top of this list. So know this: sometimes one and two flip flop, and that’s ok.
Sirius is a complex character, maybe not as complex as Snape, but he’s a rather interesting figure. He’s introduced as a murdering mad man in name only and then it turns out he’s not out to kill Harry, he’s not even the person who betrayed his parents. He was James’ best friend and Harry’s godfather. He was the one person outside the trio (and Dumbledore) that Harry felt was family and could count on. He lived and died protecting Harry and he was a BAMF until the moment he was stunned and fell through the dais (damn you Bellatrix!). It was his personality and the way he defied his pure blood family and their support of Voldemort that made me love him. It’s the reason I lived in denial for years waiting for him to return in books six and seven. I was convinced he was alive and he would return, and although I was partly correct in his return, it was as little more than a “ghost” (what else could you call it?) when Harry uses the Resurrection Stone going to meet his death in the forest. I loved the way Gary Oldman played him in the films, and it still kills me that Jo Rowling killed him off. He only had three books in order to prove his worthiness, and he did it well. I think I speak for a lot of fans when they claim Sirius is one of their favorite characters. And come on, he got Harry a FIREBOLT. If that isn’t the idea of the cool godfather, I don’t know what is.
